June 1st is Children's Day, and to celebrate, the children put on a performance for their parents. In the states we do this too, but it is sometimes spread out throughout the year depending on grade and school. The big difference is, I have never seen so much preparation and costumes put into the program! It was an insane month getting ready for this thing!

Michael got to be a star with his students! "Will you take a photo for me?"

The costumes and dances were so cute! This song is "I Feel Lucky".

Look at these costumes! The frog is my favorite, not just the costume but the kid too!
.
These girls are from one of my classes! I wish the video was better, but what can you do when you have a 5 year old camera?
The University planned another trip for the teachers. This time it was to Qian Dao Hu (Thousand Island Lake). I really don't think there were a thousand, but there were a lot!
When

we got close to the lake, we went on a Bamboo raft ride. It was relaxing! All the rafts seen are carrying people in our group. There were a few water fights, but mostly relaxing!
Taking off!

Mike, Me, and our friend Rudolphe. He is an awesome guy from France!

This is our boat, I'm in the back if you couldn't tell!

"I don't wanna work, I wanna bang on the drums all day..."

This was sort of neat to watch, but we felt bad for the way these snakes were treated. A Guy would sit in the area with them, and yell for people to throw money into the pit. When he got to a certain amount, he would poke them, and have them hiss at each other.

Ewww.....thats all I have to say about that!

The Three Amigo's.
We waited in line to go on the lifts for about 1/2 hour. The whole time we were talking about movies, and trying to get decent pictures of these guys!

Just a few of the Thousand Islands.

Those stairs don't look like they are going down hill! Many signs in China are funny because they are translated to the exact meaning and usually doesn't make sense (Chin-glish). When I get home, I'll have to do a post just for the funny translations!

And apparently, the people in this photo don't know how to read English, ha.

Does anyone know what speeling is? We asked everyone on our ferry, no one knew. We are wondering if it is a boating term, or if it is another Chin-glish sign. Anyone? Anyone?

On our ferry heading back. I think we were Speeling.... maybe.... we don't know really.

Ned's family loves to look up funny Asian translations on line. They think it's so funny.
Those costumes are amazing! And that dance was so stinking cute. They really do go all out.
Thousand Islet Lake was one of the places on my list I never made it to. Looks fun. And you guys are definitely speeling. Cut it out.
I looked it up. Apparently speeling is an old Scottish word that means climbing or mounting. And now you know. :)
Ha ha! Mounting-- No mounting, please.
