I have heard of first year teachers getting a job at a school they didn't really want, in the grade they didn't really want. They were just happy to have a job. I was feeling that way for a while... ready to jump into whatever I could get, then decided that I didn't need to do that since there is such a shortage of teachers. I decided to try to get what I want, where i want First, then surrender and take whatever came. After many decisions were made, I finally got a Job at the school I wanted, with the grade that I wanted, and as a bonus, one of my close friends is going to be teaching there as well! So where is this? It is in Heber City, with the Kindergarten! Let me show you my home for the next year!

We start the tour with the most important part...the play ground ;-) to the left of the picture is where we will enter into my classroom from the outdoor entrance (obviously)

We are standing in the entryway where the students have hooks to hang up their coats and backpacks, its a cool little nook! (mom I think, is trying to relive her Kindergarten days? Yes?)

This is the view from...sort of where mom was standing in the previous picture...more from where the red chairs are.... Anya, you can see to the left is our own private bathroom (yippee), and to the left of that was the outdoor entry way. Also if you look out the indoor entryway(to the right), you can see the schools restrooms, so I have all access to bathrooms!! Anyway lets move on!
This is taken from the indoor entryway, you can see my comfy chair and....desk? too bad you can't see out my window's, you'd see the playground and the b-e-a-utiful scenic view of the backside of Timpinogus and other Wasatch Mountains.
And this is the school's main entrance....hip hip hooray! thanks for joining me on my tour of my new home! See you next time!
Oh...one more thing for you creative people out there. You will notice how bare my room is, so if you can make suggestions on how to set it up, that would be great! THANKS

Congratulations! That is soooo cool! Looks like your classroom is going to be pretty sweet. Way to go Katie!
I substitute taught a preschool class for a couple of days this year - it was AWESOME!!! How exciting.
As for decoration ideas, I think you should use throw pillows...and crayons on the wall. ;)
It looks super nice! I wish you could teach Spencer kindergarten! I'm so excited for you! Are you going to move to Heber City then, or just make the long commute? If you move there, I'll be jealous!
I still think you have the ideal location to teach!!! Especially your first year. Yes!! I wish you could teach Spencer, as well. I am sure Heber needs some PA's???Don't they??!! Dairy Keen makes it all worthwhile.
I hope we move up there... I am trying to convince michael it would be worth the extra cost of housing;-) I m sure they'd need PA's, so bring spencer up! and I think I'll be eating at Dairy Keen about everyday....again!
Just another comment... Find a PA job!! We'd move there in a heartbeat... we could be neighbors! Scrapbook all night... Katie, get on it!
